A new event is coming to Ouachita Parish, featuring frozen drinks, snow flurries, and winter sports. CHILLFEST is Saturday, August 24, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the corner of Desiard Street and N. 3rd Street. The festival day ends with a concert by the Cleverlys at The Hub. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Tickets for CHILLFEST are available online at the link below. A general event ticket will be $5. Admission to the Cleverlys will be $15, but if purchased online before August 24, admission includes CHILLFEST.
This event is being coordinated by the Monroe-West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau (MWMCVB), a local organization that markets Ouachita Parish as a tourist destination. “The creation of CHILLFEST is strategically placed to boost visitor volume, and to become a yearly event with potential to grow,” MWMCVB president and CEO, Alana Cooper, said.
The frozen drink options will range from snow cones to daiquiris to ice cream. Snow flurries can be expected along with the ice and winter theme. A kids’ area will have inflatables, and a makers’ fair will feature local artisans.
A Freeze Tag tournament will take place from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., and a Curling Competition (or a bonspiel) sweeps through the rest of the event from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Sign up at the link below.
The festival finishes with a concert from The Cleverlys at the Hub in Downtown Monroe, located at 201 Washington St, Monroe, LA. This six-person group plays covers of hit songs in a bluegrass style. Live music and comedy mesh together in this show.
